visitors from far and wide yesterday on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya.
Throughout India, Akshay Tritiya is celebrated as a day of new beginnings.
But in Vrindavan, the festival has a unique significance. It is a festival of
relief from the summer’s heat for Vrindavan’s beloved Shri Radha and Krishna.
On the occasion of Akshaya
Tritiya the deities of several temples were embellish with the sandal paste to bring
solace to the lord from the scotching heat of summer. The cooling consequence
of the sandal is very delightful to the lord during summer. The festival of
sandal wood is also known as chandan yatra.
At the Kishorban Temple, Shri
Yugal Kishor appeared in a dress made entirely from chandan. Yugal Kishor ji
gaves very close-up darshan from his jagmohan the outer part of the altar. He
was wearing same sandal dress. Yugal Kishor Ji looked dazzling in a beautiful
sandal dress with beautiful yello skirt accented with flowers.
The temples of Shri Radha Raman, Shri
Yugal kishor ( Kishorban ), Radha Shyam Sundar, Radha Damodar, Banke Bihari,
Radha Ballabh, Krishna Balaram were crowded with the devotees in the afternoon
to have the darshan.
Devotees who went for darshan
could be seen with Shri Radha and Krishna’s prasadi chandan on
their foreheads. They collected the paste in a vessel by maintaining
complete sanctity. The scene of the devotees sitting altar and engaging in this service is truly amazing and energize, as it instills within the heart.
